We’re really excited… to announce the return of our You Okay, Doc? Huddles, with our next sessions taking place on Thursday 17th September and Thursday 15th October, from 8 – 9pm.

Even better, we’re delighted to welcome Dr Tiina Tamm as our new Huddle facilitator.

What is a Huddle?

Our Huddles are free, informal online spaces where healthcare professionals can come together to talk, listen and reflect.

Taking place on Zoom, they’re a little like a Balint group, but with the flexibility to discuss experiences both inside and outside of work. Everyone has the opportunity to speak, but there is absolutely no pressure to do so.

What makes Huddles special is the common ground in the room. Medicine can sometimes feel incredibly isolating, particularly when you’re struggling with an experience or feeling you think nobody else will understand.

Time and again, someone shares something believing they are alone, only to discover that others in the room have felt exactly the same way.

That’s what Huddles are about: open conversation, shared experiences and a supportive, non-judgemental space to reflect.

Each Huddle has just 10 places, helping us keep the sessions small, personal and welcoming. They are completely free to attend.

Meet Dr Tiina Tamm

Tiina brings a wealth of experience from both medicine and psychotherapy.

Originally trained as a doctor in Estonia, she has worked in the NHS for more than 20 years as a consultant in intensive care and anaesthesia. Throughout her career, she has developed a particular interest in the impact our work can have on us as people, including burnout, compassion fatigue, workplace relationships and the emotional demands of caring for others.

Supporting colleagues is an important part of Tiina’s work. She is an educational supervisor and mentor to senior medical trainees, teaches doctors about recognising and managing conflict, and is a trained peer supporter and national peer support trainer with the Intensive Care Society.

Alongside medicine, Tiina trained as a psychotherapeutic counsellor and has a private practice working with individuals and couples.

Her experience across both worlds gives her a unique understanding of the culture of medicine, including how easy it can be to keep going, look after everyone else and put your own needs at the bottom of the list.

We’re so pleased to have Tiina facilitating our Huddles and creating a space where doctors can talk openly, reflect and, importantly, realise they’re not alone.
